Overview
Texas KIDS COUNT began in 1993 as an effort to evaluate the educational, social, economic, and physical well-being of children in Texas.
Recognizing the need for quality information when making sound public policies, we assembled comprehensive data tools that span a range of topics relevant to Texas children and youth. Texas KIDS COUNT features a variety of useful tools:
The State of Texas Children 2009-10 data book
The State of Texas Children (SOTC) 2009-10 is the latest in our annual series of reports that provides a statewide view of the status of Texas' children, as well as some historical and policy context within which to interpret the data.
To download a copy of the entire data book, go to State Data Book.
SOTC Data Snapshots (Most current data)
The data snapshots are updated annually, providing a point-in-time picture of child well-being for every KIDS COUNT indicator in all 254 Texas counties.
To view a snapshot for Texas or a specific county, go to County Snapshots.
SOTC Data Over Time
Supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and maintained by Texas KIDS COUNT, the KIDS COUNT Data Center interactive database allows users to generate snapshots for specific years, graphs of data over time, state maps of data across counties, and/or comparative data rankings of across counties . To view data for a specific indicator over time, go to the Texas home page of the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Data Center.
Thank you for your interest in the well-being of Texas' children. We hope you find The State of Texas Children 2009-10 report and website to be indispensable resources for your work in supporting the children and families of Texas.
