Overview

Texas KIDS COUNT began in 1993 as an effort to evaluate the educational, social, economic, and physical well-being of children in Texas.

Recognizing the need for quality information when making sound public policies, we assembled comprehensive data tools that span a range of topics relevant to Texas children and youth.

The State of Texas Children 2008-09 data book
The State of Texas Children (SOTC) 2008-0909 is the latest in our annual series of reports that provides a statewide view of the status of Texas’ children, as well as some historical and policy context within which to interpret the data.

SOTC Data Snapshots (Most current data)
The data snapshots are updated annually, providing a point-in-time picture of child well-being for every KIDS COUNT indicator in all 254 Texas counties.

SOTC Data Over Time
Supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and maintained by Texas KIDS COUNT, the Community-Level Information on Kids (CLIKS) interactive database allows users to generate snapshots for specific years, graphs of data over time, state maps of data across counties, and/or comparative data rankings of across counties .
