In 1993, Texas KIDS COUNT began as an effort to evaluate child well-being in our state and explore the collective impact of policy change on Texas' children over time. Recognizing the necessity of quality information for sound policymaking, we have assembled a comprehensive dataset across a wide range of topics relevant to Texas children and youth.
The State of Texas Children 2007
The State of Texas Children (SOTC) 2007 is the latest in our annual series of reports detailing the status of Texas’ children overall and for each of Texas' 254 counties.
SOTC Data Snapshots
The data snapshots provide users with a single-year snapshot of child well-being and include the values, ranks, and change over time for every indicator maintained by the Texas KIDS COUNT project for all of Texas or by county.
To view a snapshot for Texas or a specific county, go to County Snapshots.
NEW FEATURE!!!
Have you ever wanted additional information on a topic when looking at the KIDS COUNT data? This year, when you click any data name in the snapshots, we will provide you with the data definition, source of the data and, when available, links to CPPP and National KIDS COUNT reports on that topic.
To download a PDF of The State of Texas Children 2007, go to State Data Book.
SOTC Data Over Time
To view data for a specific indicator over several years, go to the Community-Level Information on Kids (CLIKS) Interactive Database. Supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and maintained by Texas KIDS COUNT, CLIKS allows you to generate snapshots for specific years, graphs of data over time, maps, and/or comparative rankings for the most current year of data for Texas or any individual county.
