Unemployment Definition
Percentage of the civilian labor force either not working, or looking for work, or available to accept a job. For state-level data, the numbers are for actual unemployment, not adjusted for fluctuations during the year such as seasonal work, etc.

Children Receiving Food Stamps Definition
Number and percentage of children ages 0-17 enrolled in the Food Stamp program. Data for Travis, Blanco, and Hays counties was not available in 2004 from the Texas Integrated Eligibility Redesign System (TIERS). Statewide, TIERS only accounted for about 3 percent of the Texas Works caseload, but county-level data in the pilot areas was significantly affected.
