The Betty Anderson Public Policy Internship

Betty Anderson

Betty Anderson,
1930 - 2008

Betty Anderson was a founding board member who passed away in December 2008. Her family established the Betty Anderson Public Policy Internship in her honor to help train aspiring young people for a career seeking social justice.

A founding board member of the center, Betty was a prominent Lubbock activist dedicated to the needs of the poor and vulnerable throughout our state. She was an active participant in the advocacy process and the community, at one time serving as a board member of 35 organizations such as the South Plains Food Bank, Lubbock Women’s Protective Services, and Lubbock Rape Crisis Center. She also received several awards and recognitions, including a national aware from the League of Women Voters and Distinguished Alumnus of Texas Tech University College of Human Sciences.

The center is proud to continue Betty Anderson’s powerful legacy of social justice advocacy through this internship.
